| The new and 8th Kitty Solaris album "Girls and Music" is here and musically ties in with the previous album "Sunglasses" (Top 20 Tipp Album annual charts). Whether 80s, 60s, 70s style, you are used to all of this from the "secret indie queen of Berlin" and you will find it again here. The basis of all work is still the singer-songwriter elixir: vocals and plucked guitar, which are refined here and there by refreshing ingredients from Damian Press' production kitchen. But the 8th album from the DIY record factory Solaris Empire is much more this time. On the one hand a requiem for the friend who died too young. Girls and Music were his driving force and inspiration for the title track. On the other hand, "Girls & Music" is highly political, as could not be otherwise in these turbulent times. It's about self-empowerment and also about women and music, better women and the music industry and the constant struggle for recognition and balance. But also about fear, loss and surviving in difficult times. Hard, existential themes, packed into stylistically variable songs and airy arrangements. Recorded as a classic indie song featuring guitar, bass, accordion and drums, Mystery Girl explores spirituality and creativity as keys to connecting with the world. "Cash Flow" in the 80s vibe, follows the trail of money. Kill the Beast is inspired by Raoul Peck's arte documentary Eradicate the Beasts, which explores colonialism and racism. "Girls & Music" deals with the finitude of existence and ARRIETA was the last holiday card from a friend who died much too young. The musical implementation is poetic, comforting and beautiful. Where there is shadow, there is also light. "Disco Blues" throws rays of light into the abyss with disco and funk guitar and "Do you join us" celebrates the power of community and exchange with others. Kitty Solaris manages to draw strength from all these topics and, with her comforting, warm voice, to give courage and confidence to keep looking forward and to do what you want, regardless of external conditions and circumstances.
