| Second album from the musician Joe Bel, who is omnipresent in France in film, television, radio and the fashion world. Following her acclaimed debut album "Dreams", the follow-up "Family Tree" focuses on family values and the fusion of different cultures. Joe Bel's velvety voice and harmonious melodies lend the 11 songs a familiar security and warm the heart.
Born in France, Joe Bel spent a lot of time at sea with her parents and explored her family's various home countries. Joe Bel also played the piano as a child and listened incessantly to records by Paul McCartney, Otis Redding and traditional Jewish-Spanish songs. Her career finally began when the musician stood on stage alone with her acoustic guitar for the first time in 2012 after the birth of her first child. Enchanted by her soulful music, folk-rock musician Asaf Avidan invited her to join his European tour as a support act, which enabled her to perform in front of large audiences such as at the Olympia in Paris. In 2015, Joe Bel finally released her EP "Hit the Roads", with which she played the biggest stages on her European tour, such as the Sziget Festival in Budapest. The title track "Hit the Roads" was also chosen for an advertising campaign for the luxury brand Longchamp with Alexa Chung and directed by Peter Lindbergh. Her debut album "Dreams" with music producer Marcus Paquin (Arcade Fire, The National) hit the jackpot with more than 50 million streams and great press coverage. In 2020, while Joe Bel was expecting her second child, she began composing her new album "Family Tree". The musician sings in English and French as well as in Ladino, the Spanish language of her grandfather. She combines her various cultural influences with her well-known dreamy, organic sound. After the birth of her child, she recorded the 11 tracks with her husband, producer and pianist Julien Jussey in the Ciergerie studio in Lyon. "Family Tree" is an all-round harmonious album that is characterised by its family ties and diverse sounds and is a successful interplay of melancholy and sunshine, strength and gentleness. |
