| Grégory Privat's music is very cinematic. I was undoubtedly influenced by Tales of Cyparis.
The concerts he gives are never half-measures. . . or half-tones, and yet very nuanced. He transports, upsets and leaves his mark. Few musicians give as much as he does, leaving an unforgettable moment of grace.
For this opus, Grégory arrived without any preparation to play the game of total improvisation, letting himself be carried along by the inspiration of the moment. As soon as he puts his suitcase down, he dared to record three tracks on my piano that evening.
Upright Steinway (the piano on which he had played his very first solo set here in a private concert a few years earlier), not tuned, it wasn't planned, prepared on the spot by Julien Bassères and himself: the NIGHT. The next day, he conversed with the Steinway B. The result is astonishing, the movement magnificent, the story poetic, bewitching. The contrast between NIGHT and DAY is sublime.
The very strong feeling of entering for a moment in the intimacy of Grégory, and in those of these two singular instruments.
Listening to it will give you the feeling of having been there, and still being there.
Paradis improvise, the label
14 pianists, two galaxies in short… two constellations of 7 stars, 14 solo piano albums, recorded on my piano in my apartment.
For 10 years, private concerts have been improvised on rue Paradis, shared grace-filled moments, exceptional and delicious moments of music. An audience of friends has formed, regularly enriched by new people.
A place that sounds so good, a Steinway piano with such a generous and sensitive personality, everything came together to create the desire to write the history of this place that has become Paradise for a whole sibling, my sibling, of pianists among the most remarkable ones. Each revealed the intimacy, singularity, strength and fragility of a moment, specific to the recording of a solo piano. Everyone wrote their chapter, gave free rein to their imagination to tell their story.
