Captivating debut of the band that rapidly rose from small clubs to large concert halls in the first half of the 90s, only to disappear completely from view shortly after. Produced by Clive Nolan and Karl Groom, the album returns as a two-disc remaster, featuring a bonus CD and a new booklet.
As the wave of neo-progressive rock surged across Europe in the early ‘90s, the German band Ulysses appeared to be one of the most promising acts within this movement. They skillfully blended the youthful energy with elaborate forms, full of tempo and mood changes. In 1993, they recorded the album “Neronia” in the United Kingdom. The album was produced by Karl Groom (Threshold, Shadowland) and Clive Nolan (Arena, Pendragon), with guest vocals by Tracy Hitchgins in two tracks. It is a true gem for neo-progressive fans, standing alongside the genre’s most significant albums released by labels such as SI Music, Giant Electric Pea, or Toff Records at the time. The band was also popular in Poland, particularly due to joint performances with Pendragon in 1994 and radio presentations by Tomasz Beksiński.
“Neronia” makes a comeback in remastered form as a two-disc album. The additional disc includes the band’s demo recordings and alternative versions of the tracks. In the English version of the booklet, alongside unique photos from that era, an extensive history of the band can be found.
