| “Burn On!” is the name of the new album by the legendary Viennese band 5 / 8erl in Ehr'n. It is their radical search for what connects - a sound between Vienna, Motown and Havana, with a view to the poison of our time and what is balm for the soul. To this end, they have developed their own musical language: Viennese soul. 5 / 8erl in Ehr'n have become a rare species: A band that was not put together and produced in order to create quickly usable musical fast food, but has been working open-ended and without predefined aesthetics since 2006. The fact that this band still exists is a rejection of ego trips and a declaration of love for pluralism. The band has been touring regularly in Austria, Germany and Switzerland since 2006. 5 / 8erl in Ehr'n have played almost 1000 concerts, won 6 Austrian Amadeus Music Awards in the Jazz / World / Blues category and released 6 studio albums to date. Inner restlessness, anxiety and panic are symptoms, but carrying on until exhaustion is the order of the day. Capitalism and the constant pressure to self-optimize are breathing down our necks. Nevertheless, there are no breaks. In nine songs, they contrast the BURN ON! with the interpersonal. What is a species-appropriate life? What is good for us as people? The simple sentence “Let's talk briefly, just give us time” seems radical, the line “Nothing done together, neither cried nor laughed” very familiar.
