Today, the Danish black metal duo Kold presents their sophomore album, “Det Falmede Håb” (“The Faded Hope”). An album that, with broad brushstrokes, touches on a wide range of themes—from the isolating nature of loneliness to the grand embrace of community.
On this new record, the band has boycotted stylistic exercises that solely court the classic elements of the second wave of Norwegian black metal. With “Det Falmede Håb, ” the duo aims to elevate the musical universe beyond the genre-bound frameworks of their previous releases, and created a fuller soundscape while also making a series of new, experimental sonic choices.
Since the release of their self-titled EP in 2021, the duo has been signed to German label Vendetta Records, home to artists such as Afsky, Verheerer and Naxen.
“Det Falmede Håb” is available on all streaming platforms and will be physically released on cassette, CD, and vinyl via Vendetta Records.
The album was recorded by Nicklas Johansen (bass, guitar, and vocals) and Mathias Skov Samsø Jepsen (drums and vocals), mixed by Oliver Søe Kristensen, and mastered by Nicklas Johansen. Cover art was created by Julie Samsø Termansen.
