| New studio album by Ravensburg songwriter Michael Moravek, available on CD and LP.
“Dream” is a journey through memory, imagination, and inner landscapes. The album reflects life as a fleeting sequence of dreams—moments of joy and loss, longing and redemption, passing by with the relentless speed of time. Stories, faces, and places streak past like comets, shining briefly before fading again.
After “November” (2020), his most personal work to date, the pandemic abruptly brought cultural life to a standstill. From this paralyzing void, around twenty new songs emerged. “Dream” now forms a counterpart to “Lost” (2022). Both albums grew from the same recording sessions but evolved in different directions.
Inspired by authors such as Bernard Malamud, John Connolly, Hans Fallada, Flannery O’Connor, Danilo Kiš, Fernando Pessoa, and the Book of Job, literature and personal experience merge into distinct new narratives. Musically, “Dream” moves between melancholy and hope—opposites that coexist naturally here.
Supported by outstanding musicians and unique studio moments—like contributions from Shaun McLaughlin (“Everything Is Alright”) and Steve Wickham (“All That Was Lost Is Found Again”)—the songs radiate a shimmering, elusive intensity. “Dream” captures this state: a dream that feels truer than life itself. |
