| Michael Moravek is an admirer of Bob Dylan’s artistry in both song and lyrics, a lover of the poetry of Arthur Rimbaud, Jaroslav Seifert, and William Blake, and influenced by the literature of Herman Melville, Bernard Malamud, Paul Auster, and Fyodor Dostoevsky.
His musical interests lie in traditional gospel songs and the early roots of narrative songwriting, represented by artists such as Bessie Smith, Robert Johnson, and Blind Lemon Jefferson. He approaches songwriting as a craft and therefore appreciates the music of artists like Nits, Elvis Costello, Lucinda Williams, Craig Finn, and Richmond Fontaine. His upcoming album LOST is his third release under his own name.
Five albums and concert tours—including in the USA, France, and the Czech Republic—with his former band Planeausters, as well as his work in theater, have shaped his artistic development to date. |
